The Legend of Eleanor Scott Byrd: From Roots to Royal Crowns

Before there were laboratory made chemicals and heavy synthetic greases, there was Eleanor Scott Byrd, my grandmother’s grandmother affectionately called Aunt Gnome by everyone.

Aunt Gnome was a well known healer, prayer warrior, and seer who was born with “a veil over her face.” In her community, her home was a sanctuary for those seeking restoration. She understood the language of the earth. She used roots and herbs to heal the body and spirit. But Eleanor’s magic didn’t stop at wellness. She was also celebrated for her cosmetic elixirs, hand-crafted to bring life and luster back to the hair and skin. 

Crown of Ori is the modern evolution of Eleanor’s healing hands. For our hair care products, I’ve taken her ancestral wisdom of root stimulation and combined it with a sophisticated, ‘no-buildup’ base designed specifically for the needs of locs and natural crowns today. We removed the heavy waxes of the past and kept the healing intent of the future.

All of our products ranging from our body butters, lotions, skin exfoliants, to perfume collections honor my lineage of healing that started generations ago. When you use our products, you are wearing your Ori, your inner essence, with the strength and royalty it deserves.
